This short Ngorongoro crater safari starts with a departure from Arusha after which you head for a long yet rewarding drive that takes about 3 hours before arriving at the gate of Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Just before that, along the way, you’ll pass bustling Maasai villages and sweeping plains dotted with acacia and the occasional giraffe or wildebeest. As soon as you arrive at the conservation entrance, you’ll sign in and then begin the incredible descent into the caldera. This mist masked tropical rainforest of the mountain is home to cape buffalo and baboon troupes, elephants, hyenas, cobs, lions and shy leopard moving through the dense green undergrowth. As you proceed to the descend starting point for the amazing sightseeing, you will stop at the Ngorongoro viewing area for a stunning view of the caldera’s sheer scale. Here, the shadows of clouds patch the caldera floor, and if you are the keen-eyed one, there are high chances that you shall spot the great herds of wildebeest and zebra moving about below. Here, the sun glitters off the soda lakes and it all combines to make this truly beautiful landscape.
From here you’ll continue our descent into the caldera, where over 120 species of mammals go about their lives. Ngorongoro crater is regarded as the very best black rhino and cape buffaloes sightseeing place much as during your encounter, you shall see to the entirety the African Big Five. We’ll also see large packs of hyenas as well as lesser known predators such as jackals and serval cats.
