Tarangire National Park: Elephant Haven and Baobab Forests

Tarangire National Park is one of the most exciting National parks found in the wildlife mainland region of Tanzania. Located in northeast Tanzania and regarded as one of the most accessible national parks from Arusha, Tarangire covers around 2,850 square kilometers, it is named after the Tarangire River flowing through it.

The Tarangire National park is well-known for its diverse wildlife, but mostly especially as the number one park with the highest concentration of elephants. Tarangire is also famous for giant baobab trees.

Even if Tarangire is not as famous as Serengeti or Ngorongoro, a visit to the Tarangire or combing a Serengeti safari with Tarangire can be much more rewarding giving you an encounter with the highest concentration of elephants and sighting of the giant baobab trees.

Tarangire is known for wildlife migrations, including wildebeests, elephants, gazelles, zebras, hartebeests, and buffaloes moving to the Tarangire River.

This yearly small migration attracts predators and bird. You can plan a visit to Tarangire to simply compare this to the giant Wildebeest Migration of Serengeti or Masai Mara.
